“Where is everything?”
The heart of Downtown Minneapolis is west of the Loft. You can either walk down Washington Ave or take the light rail to Nicollet or Hennepin stations.
Middlebrook is located in the West Bank campus of the University of Minnesota. To get to the East Bank campus, you can walk east across the bike/pedestrian bridge above the Washington Ave bridge, or take the 2, 3, or 16 bus east across the Mississippi River.
Saint Paul is pretty far east of us – don’t go walking there in this August heat! Same goes for North and South Minneapolis. If you want to see more of these places outside of Community Day, your best bet is a Metro transit bus or light rail. Look into it at metrotransit.org.
“Where can I go chill outside?”
Gold Medal Park is just a block away from the Loft. Benches are sparse though, and not much shade either. Mill Ruins Park and the area around it (including the Guthrie Theatre and the West River Parkway trails) is better in terms of sitting and shade. Adventurous folks can walk the length of the Stone Arch Bridge, which can be accessed at Mill Ruins Park. All of these locations are shown on the map.
“Where can I find an ATM?”
The closest ATM to the Loft is located a block west at Stonebridge Bank (903 Washington Ave). The ATM is located in the building that also houses Wasabi and other restaurants, right inside of the eastern entrance off a small parking lot. It is not a 24-hours ATM but will be available from 8:30 am to after midnight Thursday and Friday, and afternoons and evenings on Saturday and Sunday.
If no luck there, the other nearby ATM is at Bobby and Steve’s Auto World (1221 Washington Ave), two blocks east of the Loft and right behind the Mobil Gas Station.
